Versatile and multi-talented, Steve Tanzer is one of today's top flutists and piccoloists. He has performed and recorded with the New York Philharmonic, and for twenty three years was flutist and solo piccoloist of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and the Philly Pops with Peter Nero.
Steve has also performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony, the Miami Philharmonic, the American Ballet, the Kirov Ballet, under noted conductors Zubin Mehta, Erich Leinsdorf, Mstislav Rostropovich, and Arthur Fiedler, and in such famous venues as Carnegie Hall, the Philadelphia Academy of Music, and Boston's Symphony Hall.
A native of Boston, he earned a Bachelor's Degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Master's Degree from the Philadelphia Musical Academy. He studied with the legendary John Krell, former solo piccoloist of the Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy, and with Lois Schaefer and George Madsen, both formerly of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Equally at home in the popular field, Steve has performed with Ray Charles, Mel Torme, Bobby Rydell, and Andrea Bocelli. Since 2002, he has been the featured flutist at Caesars in Atlantic City, and has also appeared at the Tropicana, the Hilton, the Trump Marina, and the Borgata.
